March 2015 Outlook/Fish Report

After dealing with a colder than average February, finally we are turning the corner with warmer weather and the fish are responding.

The passes are holding a variety of game fish. Today, Pompano, Black drum, Sheephead, and flounder, whiting, ladyfish, small Blacktip sharks among others were landed; March 2nd. on Lido Key. The water temp is bouncing back quickly which really gets fish going. They are in the feeding mode. Also, Snook season opened yesterday, March 1st and runs through April 30th. May – August is closed, but opens again September 1st through November 30th. NOTE: A Snook permit is required if you plan to keep one. Daily limit: 1(one)
and the slot size is 28′ to 33″. Fishing right from the beach can be really good and will only get better as Spring progresses. Pompano, drum, Spanish mackerel, sheepshead, flounder, sharks, jacks, whiting and snook are fair game in the days ahead. Always, observe the conditions and strategize your plan of attack to maximize your fishing experience. Have a great day fishing!

I’ll look forward to seeing you on the beach!!
